63 A MCCB with TM240 release — 220 kA SCCR at 240 V
The Siemens 3VA1163-6EF36-0BC0 is a SENTRON 3VA1 molded case circuit breaker rated for 63 A continuous current with a TM240 thermal-magnetic trip unit. Its interrupting capacity hits 220 kA at 240 VAC, 154 kA at 415 VAC, and 121 kA at 440 VAC — numbers that put it in the high-fault tier for industrial distribution panels where upstream transformer capacity is substantial. The TM240 release provides thermal overload and magnetic short-circuit protection for line protection. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V.
Built-in undervoltage release and auxiliary switches
This variant ships with an integrated undervoltage release (UVR) and two HQ auxiliary switches — the auxiliary trip module is order code 3VA9608-0BB11. The UVR drops the breaker on loss of control voltage, which is standard for safety disconnects and emergency-off circuits where you want the breaker to latch out after a voltage dip. No communication module, no ground-fault monitoring, no phase-failure detection on this build — it's a straight line-protection breaker with hardwired aux contacts. Trip indicator is not fitted; status comes from the aux switches.
Thermal derating and panel fit
Rated 63 A from 40 °C through 50 °C ambient; derating begins at 55 °C (60.48 A) and drops to 56.7 A at 70 °C. That's a clean thermal curve — no surprise drop at 45 °C. Storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C; operating range -25 °C to 70 °C. Three-pole, 76.2 mm wide, 130 mm tall, 70 mm deep — fits standard MCCB panel cutouts. Front protection is IP40, so it's fine for enclosed switchboards but not washdown areas.
