MCCB with 63 A continuous rating and high interrupting capacity
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1163-6EF36-0HA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 63 A continuous current at 40 °C through 50 °C, with a thermal-magnetic TM240 overcurrent release. Its interrupting capacity reaches 220 kA at 240 V, 154 kA at 415 V, and 121 kA at 440 V — figures that place it in the high-fault-current class for industrial distribution panels where upstream transformer capacity or utility fault levels demand a breaker that can clear without cascading. At 690 V the rating drops to 17 kA, so verify the system voltage against the curve before specifying for 690 V applications. The 63 A frame is derated above 55 °C: 60.48 A at 55 °C, stepping down to 56.7 A at 70 °C. If the panel ambient runs hot — say, a non-climate-controlled enclosure near a furnace line — use the 55 °C or 60 °C row to size the load, not the 40 °C nameplate. The breaker carries a rated insulation voltage of 800 V and an IP40 front protection rating, meaning it is suited for indoor panel mounting where no water spray reaches the front face.
Panel fit and integration notes
Dimensions: 130 mm height, 76.2 mm width, 70 mm depth. The 76.2 mm width (three-pole) matches the standard SENTRON 3VA frame footprint, so it drops into a panel already laid out for a 3VA three-pole breaker without re-drilling the mounting plate. No auxiliary contacts are fitted as standard (order the 3VA9688-0BL30 auxiliary trip separately if needed), and there is no integrated communication, phase-failure detection, or ground-fault monitoring — this is a pure line-protection device with a shunt trip (STL) design. The latching endurance is rated at 15,000 operations, which covers frequent switching in process applications but is not intended for continuous motor-starting duty.
