MCCB for line protection — 63 A, 3-pole, high interrupting capacity
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1163-6EF36-0KH0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated 63 A continuous at 40 °C, designed for line protection (cable/feeder) rather than motor or generator duty. Its interrupting capacity reaches 220 kA at 240 V AC, 154 kA at 415 V, and 121 kA at 440 V — figures that cover most industrial service-entrance and distribution panel fault levels without needing a current-limiting upstream device. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V, so the breaker can be applied in 690 V systems where the interrupting rating drops to 17 kA.
Thermal derating and panel fit
The breaker holds 63 A from 40 °C through 50 °C, then derates to 62 A at 55 °C, 61 A at 60 °C, 60 A at 65 °C, and 58 A at 70 °C — useful when the MCCB sits in a crowded enclosure with limited airflow. Dimensions are 130 mm height, 76.2 mm width (3 in), and 70 mm depth (2.76 in), which fits standard Siemens 3VA panel cutouts and bus-bar spacing. Maximum power loss is 17.3 W — account for that heat in the enclosure thermal calculation.
Auxiliary and release configuration
Factory-fitted with 2 auxiliary switches plus 1 trip alarm switch (HQ), and a shunt trip release (STL) for remote tripping. No undervoltage release, no ground-fault monitoring, no communication module — this is a basic line-protection breaker with remote trip capability. Trip indicator and voltage trigger are present; the supplied basic switch is order code 3VA11636EF360AA0.
