What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3VA1163-6MH36-0DC0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) on the IEC 160A frame, configured as a starter protector with a TM120M thermal-magnetic trip unit set at 63A. The 'without overload protection' spec means the thermal element is bypassed — this breaker provides only short-circuit protection (Ii adjustable 5–15 x In), intended for use upstream of a separate motor overload relay. The 70kA Icu at 415V AC (breaking capacity class H) gives it enough interrupting capacity for high-fault industrial distribution panels. The built-in undervoltage release (UVR) coils at 208–230V AC 50/60Hz, and two HQ auxiliary switches are wired in for remote status feedback.
Where it fits in the panel
Mounts on a DIN rail or panel-mount via the 3VA1 frame's integral lugs. Clamp-type terminals accept copper or aluminum conductors — strip length and torque per the terminal marking. The UVR coil draws power from the control transformer, not the main bus; verify the control circuit is fused separately. Two HQ auxiliary switches provide one N/O and one N/C contact each, rated for 240V AC pilot duty.
