What this breaker is and what it does on a line
The Siemens 3VA1163-6MH36-0HA0 is a 3-pole IEC frame 160 circuit breaker with a 70 kA breaking capacity at 415 V — class H, which means it clears high fault currents typical in industrial distribution without cascading upstream. Rated at 63 A, it uses a TM120M thermal-magnetic trip unit set for starter protection: short-circuit pickup adjustable from 5 to 15 times In. There is no integral overload relay; this breaker is for short-circuit protection only, paired with a separate overload device on the motor branch. The shunt trip (STL) operates on 12–30 V DC or 24 V AC, letting a remote pushbutton, safety relay, or PLC signal kill the breaker without walking the panel. Clamp connection terminals speed wiring — no lug crimping on the line side.
Where it fits in the panel
This breaker snaps onto a standard DIN rail inside the enclosure. The 3VA1 frame footprint is consistent across the 160 A frame range, so a panel layout that accepts other 3VA1 breakers will accept this one without re-drilling the backplate.
