What this 3VA MCCB is and what it does
The Siemens 3VA1180-3EF32-0CH0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection in distribution panels. It carries an 80 A rating at 40 °C ambient — the same rating holds at 45 °C and 50 °C, then derates to 78 A at 55 °C, 77 A at 60 °C, 75 A at 65 °C, and 74 A at 70 °C, so you get full 80 A through most normal panel conditions. Three-pole construction with a rated insulation voltage of 800 V. Breaking capacity runs 75.6 kA at 240 V, 52.5 kA at 415 V, 32 kA at 440 V, and 11.9 kA at both 500 V and 690 V — high enough for most industrial service-entrance or feeder positions.
Built-in undervoltage release and auxiliary switch complement
This variant ships with an undervoltage release (UVR) fitted, so the breaker trips automatically when supply voltage drops below a set threshold — useful for motor protection sequences or preventing reclosure after a brownout. The auxiliary switch complement is 2 auxiliary switches plus 1 trip alarm switch (HQ), giving you three dry contacts for status feedback to a PLC or annunciator panel.
Mechanical integration and power loss
Dimensions are 130 mm high, 76.2 mm wide, and 70 mm deep — a standard 3-pole MCCB footprint that fits most DIN-rail or panel-mount enclosures without surprises. Maximum power loss is 21.7 W, so factor that into enclosure thermal calculations if you are packing multiple breakers in a sealed cabinet.
