What it is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1180-3EF32-0HC0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for line protection. It carries 80 A continuously at 40 °C, with a breaking capacity of 75.6 kA at 240 V AC — enough to clear high-fault industrial feeders without cascading upstream. The 80 A rating holds steady through 50 °C, then derates to 78 A at 55 °C, 77 A at 60 °C, 75 A at 65 °C, and 74 A at 70 °C, so it suits panels that run warm but stay below the 70 °C operating max. Breaking capacity steps down with voltage: 52.5 kA at 415 V, 32 kA at 440 V, 11.9 kA at 500 V, and 11.9 kA at 690 V. The 800 V rated insulation voltage gives headroom for 690 V systems.
Built-in accessories and panel fit
This MCCB ships with a shunt trip (STL) for remote opening and two HQ auxiliary switches for status feedback — no separate ordering for those add-ons. The 76.2 mm width (3 in) and 130 mm height (5.12 in) match the standard SENTRON 3VA frame footprint; the 70 mm depth (2.76 in) fits typical DIN-rail or mounting-plate layouts. No undervoltage release or ground-fault monitoring on this variant. Power loss at full load is 19.2 W maximum — modest for an 80 A frame, so ventilation in the enclosure is straightforward.
