What it is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1180-3GD46-0AA0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 80 A continuous, with a TM210 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release. It's designed for line protection — the primary feeder or main distribution point in a panel. The 80 A rating holds flat from 40 °C up to 50 °C, then derates to 74 A at 70 °C. That means in a warm enclosure — typical for a packed industrial panel — you get full rated current without having to oversize the frame.
Interrupting capacity — what the numbers mean on the line
This breaker can safely clear a fault at 75.6 kA at 240 V, 52.5 kA at 415 V, 32 kA at 440 V, and 11.9 kA at 500 V and 690 V. The 240 V figure is the highest — so if your service entrance or main panel feeds from a 240 V transformer, you have a lot of headroom for high-fault scenarios. At 415 V, 52.5 kA covers most industrial distribution boards.
Fit and footprint
Dimensions are 130 mm high, 101.6 mm wide, 70 mm deep — a standard MCCB footprint that fits most DIN-rail or panel-mount enclosures without surprises. The IP40 front face keeps dust and incidental contact out, but it's not washdown-rated; keep it inside the cabinet.
