Line protection MCCB with UVR — 80 A, 121 kA at 240 V
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1180-4EF32-0BH0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for line protection, carrying 80 A continuous at 40 °C and delivering a 121 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V. The TM240 thermal-magnetic release handles overloads and short circuits without an external trip unit. An integrated undervoltage release (UVR) trips the breaker when supply voltage drops below the dropout threshold — common in safety circuits or emergency-stop chains where loss of control power must open the main feeder.
Breaking capacity across voltages — selectivity headroom
Breaking capacity drops as line voltage rises: 75.6 kA at 415 V, 52.5 kA at 440 V, and 11.9 kA at 690 V. At 240 V the 121 kA figure gives substantial headroom for high-fault utility feeds or transformer secondaries. The 80 A rating holds flat from 40 °C through 50 °C; derating begins at 55 °C (76.8 A) and steps down to 72 A at 70 °C. For a panel running at 50 °C ambient, the full 80 A is available — no oversizing needed.
Panel fit — 76.2 mm wide, 70 mm deep
The breaker occupies 76.2 mm width (roughly 3 inches) on the DIN rail or mounting plate, with a 130 mm height and 70 mm depth. The IP40 front face suits enclosed panel mounting — not washdown environments. The auxiliary contact version includes 2 auxiliary switches plus 1 trip alarm switch (HQ type), wired via the integrated 3VA9608-0BB11 accessory harness. The undervoltage release is factory-installed; no field wiring of a separate UVR module is required.
