What this MCCB delivers
The Siemens 3VA1180-5EF32-0HC0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker rated 80 A continuous at 40 °C, with a 3-pole configuration and a line protection design. Its interrupting capacity hits 187 kA at 240 V AC and 121 kA at 415 V AC — numbers that tell you it handles high-fault utility feeds or transformer secondaries without needing upstream fuses. The built-in shunt trip (STL) release lets a remote signal or safety relay trip the breaker independently of overcurrent — useful for emergency-stop circuits or fire-suppression interlocks. Two auxiliary switches (HQ) report contact position back to a PLC or status panel.
Derating and thermal limits
The 80 A rating holds flat from 40 °C up to 50 °C. Above that, it derates gradually: 78 A at 55 °C, 77 A at 60 °C, 75 A at 65 °C, and 74 A at 70 °C. If your panel runs hot — say, a packed enclosure near a furnace line — factor the 70 °C figure into your load calculation. Power loss at full rated current is 19.2 W, which matters for enclosure thermal rise in a sealed cabinet. Storage range spans -40 °C to 80 °C; operating ambient is -25 °C to 70 °C. The insulation voltage is rated 800 V, so it's comfortable in 690 V systems where the interrupting capacity drops to 17 kA.
Panel fit and mounting
The breaker measures 130 mm high, 76.2 mm wide, and 70 mm deep — a 3-pole footprint that fits standard Siemens 3VA mounting bases. No undervoltage release is fitted, so if your safety circuit expects one, you'll add it externally or order a variant with that option.
