Thermal derating and ambient temperature
The 3VA1180-5EF32-0JA0: The 80 A rating holds flat from 40 °C up to 50 °C — no derating needed in a typical warm panel. At 55 °C it drops to 76.8 A, at 60 °C to 75.2 A, and at 70 °C to 72 A. If the breaker sits next to heat-generating gear (contactors, drives) or in a sealed enclosure without forced ventilation, you need to account for that curve. The operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C. The IP40 front protection means it's fine for a dry indoor panel but not for washdown environments.
Auxiliary releases and accessories
This version includes a shunt trip (STL) release — designated as design of the auxiliary release — which allows remote tripping via a control signal. The integrated auxiliary trip accessory order code is 3VA9688-0BL32. There is no undervoltage release, no auxiliary contact block, no ground-fault monitoring, no communication function, and no phase-failure detection. It's a straightforward line-protection breaker with a shunt trip for emergency-off or remote-disconnect schemes. The mechanical endurance is rated at 15,000 operations.
Physical fit and panel integration
Dimensions: 130 mm height, 76.2 mm width, 70 mm depth. The 76.2 mm width is a standard 3-pole MCCB footprint — it fits most DIN-rail or panel-mount busbar systems without surprises. The 70 mm depth is shallow enough for a 200 mm deep enclosure with room for wiring behind the breaker. No auxiliary contacts or communication modules add depth, so the installed profile is exactly the breaker body.
