What this MCCB carries and where it fits
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1180-5EF32-0JH0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection in distribution panels. Rated 80 A continuously at ambient temperatures from 40 °C to 50 °C, it derates to 74 A at 70 °C — a thermal curve worth checking if the panel sits near a heat source or in a non-climate-controlled enclosure. Breaking capacity is 187 kA at 240 V, stepping down to 121 kA at 415 V and 75.6 kA at 440 V — figures that cover most industrial service-entrance and feeder applications where high fault current is a given. At 500 V and 690 V it still holds 17 kA, so it handles 480 V and 600 V class systems without a separate current-limiting fuse. The 70 mm depth and 76.2 mm width fit standard MCCB panel footprints; the 130 mm height leaves clearance for auxiliary wiring. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V, which covers 480/277 V and 600 V systems with margin.
Auxiliary and release configuration
Factory-fitted with 2 auxiliary switches plus 1 trip alarm switch (HQ designation), and a shunt trip release (STL). No undervoltage release, no ground-fault monitoring, no communication module — this is a straight line-protection MCCB with remote trip capability and status feedback. The shunt trip lets a safety PLC or emergency-stop circuit drop the breaker remotely; the alarm switch signals a trip event back to the control system.
