Interrupting capacity and selectivity
The 3VA1180-5EF36-0AB0: The interrupting capacity is 187 kA at 240 V AC, 121 kA at 415 V, 75.6 kA at 440 V, and 17 kA at 500 V and 690 V. That 187 kA at 240 V means it can clear a bolted fault on a 480Y/277 V panel secondary without upstream fuses needing to open — useful for high-available-fault-current services where you want to keep selectivity with the main breaker.
Thermal derating and panel integration
Rated 80 A from 40 °C through 50 °C, then derates to 78 A at 55 °C, 77 A at 60 °C, 75 A at 65 °C, and 74 A at 70 °C. The 70 mm depth and 76.2 mm width fit standard SENTRON 3VA panel cutouts; the 130 mm height leaves room for auxiliary switch wiring above the breaker. Maximum power loss is 19.2 W — account for that in enclosed panel heat calculations.
