80 A MCCB with 187 kA interrupting capacity — selectivity headroom for distribution panels
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1180-5GD46-0AA0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker rated 80 A continuous current (Iu) at 40 °C, with a TM210 thermal-magnetic release. Its interrupting capacity hits 187 kA at 240 V AC, 121 kA at 415 V, and 75.6 kA at 440 V — enough headroom to coordinate selectively with downstream branch breakers in high-fault industrial distribution. Rated insulation voltage Ui is 800 V, and the breaker carries a full thermal derating curve from 80 A at 40 °C down to 74 A at 70 °C. Power loss maxes at 19.2 W. Front protection is IP40 — suitable for enclosed panel mounting, not washdown environments.
Sourcing and lifecycle — active line, quoted to order
No official successor or replacement has been issued; the 3VA1 platform remains the current SENTRON molded-case offering. For BOM-freeze planning, the part carries standard Siemens compliance documentation (RoHS, REACH, UL, IEC) available on request.
Panel fit and integration
Dimensions are 101.6 mm wide, 130 mm tall, 70 mm deep — a 4-pole MCCB that fits standard distribution panel mounting. The TM210 release is fixed thermal-magnetic (no electronic trip unit), so no auxiliary power or programming is needed. No undervoltage release, no ground-fault monitoring, no communication module on this variant — it is a straight line-protection breaker. N-conductor protection is rated at 100 % (full-rated neutral). Storage temperature range is -40 to 80 °C; operating range is -25 to 70 °C. The IP40 front rating means the breaker face is protected against solid objects over 1 mm but not sealed against moisture — keep it inside the enclosure.
