What it is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1180-6EF32-0HA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection in distribution panels. Its 80 A rating at 40 °C (derated to 74 A at 70 °C) covers feeder and branch circuits in commercial and industrial switchboards. The 220 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V means it can clear high-fault currents without upstream coordination — a key spec for high-available-fault installations like transformer secondaries or generator paralleling.
Interrupting capacity across voltages
The interrupting rating drops as system voltage rises: 154 kA at 415 V, 121 kA at 440 V, and 17 kA at both 500 V and 690 V. At 690 V the 17 kA figure is the limiting case — verify the available fault current at the point of installation before specifying.
Shunt trip release and auxiliary options
This variant carries a shunt trip (STL) release for remote tripping via a control voltage. No undervoltage release, no ground-fault monitoring, and no communication function are fitted. The supplied basic switch is order code 3VA11806EF320AA0. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V.
Panel integration: dimensions and mounting
The breaker measures 130 mm high, 76.2 mm wide, and 70 mm deep. The 76.2 mm width (3 in) is the standard SENTRON 3VA frame footprint — fits existing panel cutouts and busbar arrangements for the 3VA family. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage from -40 °C to 80 °C.
