Interrupting capacity and thermal performance
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1180-6EF36-0AB0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for line protection, carrying a continuous current Iu of 80 A. Its interrupting capacity reaches 220 kA at 240 V AC, 154 kA at 415 V AC, 121 kA at 440 V AC, and 17 kA at 690 V AC — figures that govern selectivity and SCCR headroom in a distribution panel. The TM240 thermal-magnetic release (overcurrent release design TM240) provides fixed thermal and magnetic trip thresholds, with an adjustable response time tr max. of 1 s. Thermal derating is published across the full operating range: the breaker holds 80 A continuously at ambient temperatures up to 50 °C, then steps down to 76.8 A at 55 °C, 75.2 A at 60 °C, 73.6 A at 65 °C, and 72 A at 70 °C. The operating temperature range spans -25 °C to 70 °C; storage limits are -40 °C to 80 °C. For a panel builder coordinating with upstream devices, these derated values are the ones that matter for avoiding nuisance tripping in a warm enclosure.
Mounting and auxiliary contacts
The 3VA1180-6EF36-0AB0 measures 130 mm high, 76.2 mm wide, and 70 mm deep. Front-face protection is IP40. It ships with 2 auxiliary switches (HP type) built in — no separate auxiliary release is fitted. No undervoltage release, no voltage trigger, no phase failure detection, and no communication function are included on this variant. Ground fault monitoring is absent. The reference code per DIN EN 81346-2 is Q.
Lifecycle and sourcing
This MCCB carries a lifecycle stage of current production. It is sourced and quoted to order against an RFQ through independent distribution; availability and current pricing are confirmed at quote time. No official successor has been published.
