What this MCCB is and where it fits
The 3VA1180-6EF36-0AE0 is a Siemens SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) sized for line protection — 80 A continuous at 40 °C, three poles, with a TM240 thermal-magnetic release. It is rated to interrupt faults up to 220 kA at 240 V AC, 154 kA at 415 V, and still holds 17 kA at 690 V, so it handles high available fault current on distribution transformers or large motor branch circuits without cascading upstream. Insulation voltage is rated 800 V, which covers 480/600 V class panels with margin.
Thermal derating and ambient reality
The 80 A rating holds from 40 °C through 50 °C — no derating needed in a warm control room. At 55 °C it drops to 78 A, at 65 °C to 75 A, and at 70 °C to 74 A. If the panel sits near a kiln or preheater, plan for that 6 A loss at the top end. Maximum operating temperature is 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C.
Panel footprint and integration
The breaker measures 76.2 mm wide, 130 mm tall, 70 mm deep — a standard 3-pole MCCB footprint that drops onto a DIN rail or mounts directly. The 70 mm depth leaves room for rear bus connections in a typical 200 mm deep enclosure. Four auxiliary switch positions (HQ design) are built in; no undervoltage release or ground-fault monitoring on this variant.
