What this MCCB delivers
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1180-6EF36-0DC0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 80 A continuous current at 40 °C through 50 °C, with a TM240 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release. Its interrupting capacity reaches 220 kA at 240 V, 154 kA at 415 V, and 121 kA at 440 V — enough to handle high-fault utility feeds or transformer secondaries without cascading upstream. At 690 V the rating drops to 17 kA, so verify the fault current at that voltage before committing the BOM line. The breaker carries an undervoltage release (UVR) as standard and two HQ auxiliary switches for status feedback. No communication module, no ground-fault monitoring, no phase-failure detection — this is a straightforward line-protection device sized for distribution panels where remote trip signaling and basic status are enough.
Thermal derating and panel fit
The 80 A rating holds flat from 40 °C to 50 °C. Above that it derates: 76.8 A at 55 °C, 75.2 A at 60 °C, 73.6 A at 65 °C, and 72 A at 70 °C. If the panel ambient runs at 60 °C, plan for a 75 A load ceiling. The dimensions — 130 mm high, 76.2 mm wide, 70 mm deep — fit standard SENTRON 3VA panel cutouts; the IP40 front rating means it's suited for enclosed distribution boards, not washdown zones.
