Breaking capacity and coordination headroom
The 3VA1180-6EF36-0HH0 is a 3-pole SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 80 A continuous current (Iu) with a rated insulation voltage (Ui) of 800 V. Its interrupting capacity hits 220 kA at 240 V, 154 kA at 415 V, 121 kA at 440 V, and still holds 17 kA at 690 V — which means this breaker is built for high-fault locations like transformer secondaries or large busway feeds where the available fault current is serious. The TM240 thermal-magnetic release handles the overload and short-circuit protection; no ground-fault monitoring or communication module on this variant.
Thermal derating — what it actually means for the panel
The breaker carries its full 80 A from 40 °C through 50 °C ambient. At 55 °C it derates to 76.8 A, then 75.2 A at 60 °C, 73.6 A at 65 °C, and 72 A at 70 °C. If your panel ambient runs above 50 °C — say a sealed enclosure near a furnace line — you need to account for that 8 A drop at the top end. The operating range spans -25 °C to 70 °C, storage from -40 °C to 80 °C.
Auxiliaries and trip options
This unit ships with a shunt trip (STL) release for remote tripping and an auxiliary contact block carrying 2 auxiliary switches plus 1 trip alarm switch (HQ configuration). The integrated auxiliary trip order code is 3VA9688-0BL30. A voltage trigger and mechanical trip indicator are present; undervoltage release and phase-failure detection are not fitted on this variant.
Physical fit and panel integration
The breaker measures 130 mm high, 76.2 mm wide, and 70 mm deep. Front protection is IP40 — suitable for a clean indoor panel, but not for washdown environments. Mounts on a DIN rail or directly to a backplate via the standard MCCB footprint.
