80 A, 4-pole MCCB with shunt trip — SENTRON 3VA series
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1180-6GF46-0KF0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 80 A continuous, designed for line protection in distribution panels. Its breaking capacity reaches 220 kA at 240 V, 154 kA at 415 V, and 121 kA at 440 V — figures that drop to 17 kA at both 500 V and 690 V, so the voltage class of your fault bus determines whether this breaker clears without cascading upstream. The 80 A rating holds steady from 40 °C through 50 °C; above that it derates to 78 A at 55 °C, 77 A at 60 °C, 75 A at 65 °C, and 74 A at 70 °C. If your panel ambient runs above 50 °C, the continuous load must stay under the derated value — the breaker will not trip earlier, but the internal bimetal follows the curve.
Built-in shunt trip and auxiliary switching
This variant ships with a shunt trip release (STL) for remote tripping and a 1 auxiliary switch + 1 trip alarm switch HQ combination. The shunt trip lets a safety PLC or remote E-stop signal open the breaker without an operator at the panel — useful for emergency-off circuits or remote load shedding. The auxiliary switch reports the breaker's open/closed state back to the control system; the trip alarm switch signals when it has opened on fault, not by manual command.
Mounting and integration
Dimensions are 130 mm height, 101.6 mm width, 70 mm depth — a standard SENTRON 3VA footprint that mounts on DIN rail or panel-mount base. The 4-pole width (101.6 mm) occupies the same slot width as other 4-pole 3VA breakers; if you are swapping from a different brand's 4-pole MCCB, check the busbar pitch and terminal spacing against the existing panel layout.
