The Siemens 3VA1196-3ED16-0AA0 is a 1-pole SENTRON molded case circuit breaker sized for 16 A continuous at 40 °C ambient, with the TM210 thermal-magnetic release tuned for line protection — no undervoltage release, no ground-fault monitoring, no communication module. At 240 V AC it interrupts faults up to 52.5 kA; at 415 V AC the breaking capacity drops to 7.5 kA, which is the number to watch if your panel feeds a 400 V bus. The 25.4 mm width (one inch) and 70 mm depth let it slot into a standard DIN-rail enclosure without crowding adjacent poles.
Rated current holds flat at 16 A from 40 °C through 55 °C; at 60 °C it derates to 15 A, and at 70 °C it stays at 15 A. That means no thermal headroom penalty in a warm panel unless you push past 55 °C — useful for a tightly packed row of breakers. The 52.5 kA interrupting rating at 240 V AC is the headline number, but the 7.5 kA at 415 V AC is the one that governs a 400 V three-phase distribution board; if your available fault current at the panel exceeds 7.5 kA at 415 V, this breaker needs an upstream current-limiting device.
