SENTRON 3VA1196-3EF32-0KH0 — Line-Protection MCCB, 16 A Frame
The Siemens 3VA1196-3EF32-0KH0 is a 3-pole SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) sized for line-protection duty. It's rated 16 A continuous with a healthy interrupting capacity: 75.6 kA at 240 V AC, 52.5 kA at 415 V, and still 11.9 kA all the way up to 690 V. That means it can handle high-fault scenarios on a 400 V distribution board without the breaker itself becoming the weak link — the arc gets quenched inside the molded case.
What the ratings mean for your panel
The 16 A rating holds flat from 40 °C to 55 °C, then derates to 15 A at 60–70 °C. If your panel runs hot — say a packed enclosure near a furnace line — you lose 1 A above 55 °C. The 800 V rated insulation voltage (Ui) gives headroom for 690 V systems without derating the dielectric gap. Power loss is 10.6 W max, so plan for that thermal load in a sealed cabinet. Dimensions are 70 mm deep, 76.2 mm wide, 130 mm tall — a standard 3-pole MCCB footprint. It'll drop into a SENTRON panelboard or DIN-rail adapter without re-drilling the gland plate.
Built-in accessory set
This version ships with a shunt trip (STL) and a 2-auxiliary-switch + 1-trip-alarm-switch HQ block already installed. That saves field wiring time — the shunt trip lets a remote E-stop or PLC output drop the breaker, and the alarm switch signals a trip condition back to the control system. No ground-fault monitoring module is included (that's the "Without" on the GFM version field), so if you need GF protection, order the variant with the GFM option or add an external relay.
