The Siemens 3VA1196-3GD42-0AA0-ZD00 is a 4-pole IEC frame 160 circuit breaker with breaking capacity class N, rated Icu=25kA at 415V. It's configured for line protection with a TM210 thermal-magnetic trip unit — fixed overload Ir=16A and fixed short-circuit Ii=20 x In (320A). The N conductor is protected at 100%.
What the ratings mean for fit
The 25kA Icu at 415V is the maximum short-circuit current the breaker can safely interrupt once — that's the interrupting rating, not the continuous rating. For continuous load, the 16A Ir (fixed) sets the thermal pickup; don't plan to adjust it. The Ii=20 x In means magnetic trip happens at 320A, so it'll ride through motor inrush on smaller loads but still clear a hard fault fast. The 4-pole construction with 100% N protection is typical for 3-phase + neutral systems where you can't allow the neutral to open under fault.
Deployment context
This breaker mounts in a standard DIN-rail enclosure or panel — the 3VA1 frame is designed for 35mm DIN rail. The nut keeper kit (included per the order code suffix) is a detail for DC Power OEM builds in China, where the breaker gets bolted into a sub-panel rather than snapped onto the rail. Keep that in mind if you're swapping into a standard DIN-rail panel: the kit may need to be removed or the mounting holes used instead of the rail clip.
