What this MCCB carries and where it fits
The Siemens 3VA1196-5EF32-0HH0 is a SENTRON 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 16 A continuous current (Iu) and a rated insulation voltage (Ui) of 800 V. Its interrupting capacity hits 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V, 75.6 kA at 440 V, and 17 kA at 690 V — those numbers tell you it's built for high-fault panels where a standard MCB would weld shut. The TM240 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release handles the protection curve; there's a shunt trip (STL) for remote tripping, plus 2 auxiliary switches and 1 trip alarm switch (HQ) for status feedback to a PLC or annunciator.
Panel fit and derating reality
At 70 mm deep, 76.2 mm wide, and 130 mm tall, this MCCB fits a standard 3-pole footprint on a DIN rail or panel-mount base. The front face is IP40 — fine inside a closed cabinet, not for washdown. The derating table matters: it holds 16 A flat from 40 °C to 50 °C, then drops to 15.36 A at 55 °C, 15.04 A at 60 °C, 14.72 A at 65 °C, and 14.4 A at 70 °C. If your panel ambient runs hot near the top of the enclosure, size the load accordingly — don't count on the full 16 A above 50 °C.
