MCCB for line protection with shunt trip
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1196-5EF32-0KA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for a continuous current Iu of 16 A, with a rated insulation voltage Ui of 800 V. It is configured for line protection and includes a shunt trip (STL) auxiliary release (order code 3VA9688-0BL33) for remote tripping. The overcurrent release is a TM240 thermal-magnetic type. Breaking capacity is 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V, 75.6 kA at 440 V, and 17 kA at 690 V — these figures cover most industrial distribution fault levels without needing an upstream current-limiting fuse. The 16 A rating holds flat from 40 °C to 50 °C; above that it derates to 15.36 A at 55 °C, 15.04 A at 60 °C, 14.72 A at 65 °C, and 14.4 A at 70 °C. That derating curve matters if the breaker sits in a warm enclosure near other heat sources. Mounts on a DIN rail or panel. Front protection is IP40. No auxiliary contacts, no undervoltage release, no communication module — this is a thermal-magnetic MCCB with a shunt trip for remote disconnect.
