What this breaker carries
The Siemens 3VA1196-6EE32-0DF0 is a 3-pole IEC frame 160 circuit breaker with a 70 kA breaking capacity at 415 V — class H, meaning it clears high fault currents on industrial distribution without upstream coordination headaches. Rated In of 16 A with a thermal-magnetic TM220 trip unit, overload adjustable Ir from 11 A to 16 A, and instantaneous short-circuit pickup fixed at 10 x In (160 A). That fixed Ii suits motor branch circuits or feeder protection where you want the breaker to ride through inrush but trip fast on a bolted fault. It ships with an undervoltage release (UVR) rated 208-230 V AC, 50/60 Hz — wired into the control transformer secondary, it drops the breaker if the control voltage sags, which is common on safety interlock or emergency-stop circuits. Also on board: one auxiliary switch HQ and one trip alarm switch HQ, both for remote status indication back to a PLC or annunciator panel.
Panel integration notes
Mounts on a standard DIN rail in the enclosure — the nut keeper kit is included, so the UVR terminals stay tight under vibration. The auxiliary and alarm switches are HQ type (changeover contacts), wired via the breaker's accessory slot; no separate mounting hardware needed. Keep the UVR coil supply clean — a dip below 208 V AC during a brownout will trip the breaker, which is the intended behavior for undervoltage protection.
