MCCB for line protection — 16 A, 3-pole, TM240 release
The Siemens 3VA1196-6EF36-0AA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection, with a continuous current rating of 16 A and a 3-pole configuration. The TM240 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release provides fixed thermal and magnetic trip settings, sized for feeder or branch-circuit protection where adjustable trip units are unnecessary. Breaking capacity is rated at 220 kA at 240 V, 154 kA at 415 V, 121 kA at 440 V, and 17 kA at both 500 V and 690 V — sufficient for high-fault-current installations such as transformer secondaries or large motor control centers.
Sizing and thermal derating
Rated continuous current holds at 16 A from 40 °C through 55 °C ambient, then derates to 15 A at 60 °C and 65 °C, and remains at 15 A at 70 °C. The operating temperature range spans -25 °C to 70 °C, with storage from -40 °C to 80 °C. Insulation voltage is rated 800 V. Maximum power loss is 10.6 W. Dimensions are 70 mm depth, 76.2 mm width, 130 mm height — fits standard panel-mount cutouts for 3-pole MCCBs in the SENTRON 3VA platform.
