Continuous rating and thermal curve
The Siemens 3VA1216-4EF32-0AJ0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated 160 A continuous at 40 °C, with no derating needed up to 50 °C where it still holds 160 A. Above that, the thermal curve steps down: 156 A at 55 °C, 151 A at 60 °C, 147 A at 65 °C, and 142 A at 70 °C. For a panel running at 60 °C ambient, you lose about 9 A from the nameplate — plan the load margin accordingly.
Breaking capacity is the headline spec for an MCCB used in line protection. At 240 V this unit clears 121 kA; at 415 V it handles 75.6 kA; at 440 V it drops to 52.5 kA; at 500 V to 17 kA; and at 690 V to 11.9 kA. The TM240 thermal-magnetic release provides fixed time-current characteristics for selective coordination downstream — no electronic adjustment, but also no auxiliary power needed to trip.
