The Siemens 3VA1220-4EF32-0HA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 200 A continuous current at 40 °C, with a 3-pole configuration and a TM240 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release. It is built for line protection — meaning it sits on the feeder side of a distribution panel to protect cables and busbars from overloads and short circuits.
This MCCB delivers 121 kA at 240 V, 75.6 kA at 415 V, 25 kA at 440 V, and 11.9 kA at 690 V. For a 415 V distribution board with a prospective short-circuit current of, say, 50 kA, this breaker gives you 25 kA of headroom — that is selectivity margin for the upstream transformer.
Thermal derating — the real-world current you can pull
Above that, it derates: 194 A at 55 °C, 188 A at 60 °C, 182 A at 65 °C, and 176 A at 70 °C. If your panel ambient runs at 60 °C, you lose 12 A from the nameplate rating — plan your load accordingly.
