MCCB for 200 A line protection — 4-pole, high breaking capacity
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1220-4EF42-0KC0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 200 A at 50 °C, designed for line protection in industrial power distribution. Its 121 kA breaking capacity at 240 V means it can safely interrupt fault currents up to that level — critical for high-fault installations like transformer secondaries or large motor control centers. The breaker carries its full 200 A rating up to 50 °C, then derates linearly to 176 A at 70 °C, so panel ambient temperature directly governs the continuous load it can carry.
Breaking capacity across voltage — where it fits
The interrupting rating drops as system voltage rises: 121 kA at 240 V, 75.6 kA at 415 V, 52.5 kA at 440 V, 17 kA at 500 V, and 11.9 kA at 690 V. For a 480 V panel in North America, the 52.5 kA figure at 440 V is the closest published point — expect similar performance at 480 V. This SCCR range covers most industrial switchboards and motor control centers; verify coordination with upstream protective devices.
Shunt trip and auxiliary switches included
Factory-fitted with a shunt trip release (STL) for remote tripping — useful for emergency-stop circuits or supervisory control. Also includes 2 auxiliary switches (HQ type) for status feedback to a PLC or annunciator panel. No undervoltage release or ground-fault monitoring on this variant; those are separate order-code options.
Dimensions and panel fit
Width 140 mm, height 158 mm, depth 70 mm. Mounts on a standard DIN rail or panel-mount base. The 70 mm depth keeps it within typical 200 mm deep enclosures, leaving room for wiring and busbars behind the breaker.
