The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1220-4GF42-0DH0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) with a fixed 200 A rating, designed for line protection in distribution panels. Its breaking capacity scales with system voltage: 121 kA at 240 V AC, 75.6 kA at 415 V AC, 52.5 kA at 440 V AC, 17 kA at 500 V AC, and 11.9 kA at 690 V AC — meaning it can clear faults up to those levels without upstream coordination issues at the respective voltages.
Thermal performance and derating
The breaker carries its full 200 A continuously up to 50 °C ambient. Above that, it derates linearly: 194 A at 55 °C, 188 A at 60 °C, 182 A at 65 °C, and 176 A at 70 °C. If the panel ambient runs hot — say, a non-climate-controlled enclosure near process heat — this derating curve is the one that governs real-world ampacity, not the nameplate 200 A.
Auxiliary and release configuration
This variant ships with an undervoltage release (UVR) and a 2-auxiliary-switch plus 1-trip-alarm-switch HQ block. The UVR drops the breaker when control voltage falls below its dropout threshold, which is useful for emergency-stop circuits or undervoltage protection schemes. The auxiliary switches provide status feedback to a PLC or SCADA system.
