MCCB for high-fault panel feeders
The Siemens 3VA1220-4GF42-0KC0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated at 200 A continuous, configured as a 4-pole unit for line protection duty. It carries a 121 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V AC, derating to 75.6 kA at 415 V and 52.5 kA at 440 V — figures that cover most industrial service-entrance and feeder applications where fault current runs high. At 690 V it still interrupts 11.9 kA, so it handles mixed-voltage panels without a separate current-limiting fuse upstream. Thermal derating is published across the full 40 °C to 70 °C ambient range: full 200 A up to 50 °C, then 194 A at 55 °C, 188 A at 60 °C, 182 A at 65 °C, and 176 A at 70 °C. That matters when the breaker sits in a crowded enclosure near transformers or drives — the 50 °C threshold is the practical limit for full-rated use without upsizing.
Panel fit and auxiliary wiring
Dimensions are 158 mm high, 140 mm wide, and 70 mm deep — a standard 4-pole MCCB footprint that fits most DIN-rail or backplate layouts. The integrated shunt trip (STL) release and two HQ auxiliary switches are factory-fitted, so no field-add kit is needed for remote trip signaling or status feedback to a PLC. Maximum power dissipation at full load is 42 W. In a sealed enclosure that heat load must be factored into the thermal budget — it is not trivial when multiple breakers share a compartment.
