The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1220-5EF42-0CC0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated 200 A continuous at 40 °C, with a breaking capacity of 121 kA at 415 V. It carries a 187 kA interrupt rating at 240 V, dropping to 75.6 kA at 440 V and 30 kA at 500 V. That SCCR curve tells you the breaker is sized for high-fault industrial panels — 480 V distribution, transformer secondaries, or main feeder protection where the available fault current is well above 100 kA. The unit ships with an undervoltage release (UVR) and two HQ auxiliary switches pre-installed, so you don't need to order those separately.
Ratings and thermal derating
At 40, 45, and 50 °C the breaker holds its full 200 A rating. Above that it derates linearly: 194 A at 55 °C, 188 A at 60 °C, 182 A at 65 °C, and 176 A at 70 °C. The maximum power loss at rated load is 44.5 W. For a panel builder, that means you can push the breaker into a 50 °C enclosure without down-rating the bus — useful for a packed MCC lineup.
Integration and footprint
Dimensions are 140 mm wide, 158 mm high, 70 mm deep. The 140 mm width is standard for a 4-pole MCCB in this class — it fits the same cutout as other SENTRON 3VA frames, so a panel laid out for a 3VA1 will accept this unit without re-drilling. Operating temperature range is -25 to 70 °C; storage range -40 to 80 °C. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V, which covers 480 V and 600 V class systems with margin.
