Line protection breaker, 200 A continuous, 187 kA interrupting at 240 V
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1220-5GF42-0AB0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection, rated 200 A continuous at 40 °C. Its interrupting capacity scales with system voltage: 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V, 75.6 kA at 440 V, 30 kA at 500 V, and 17 kA at 690 V (–). The TM240 thermal-magnetic release handles overload and short-circuit protection without undervoltage or ground-fault monitoring built in. The 200 A rating holds flat from 40 °C to 50 °C, then derates to 194 A at 55 °C, 188 A at 60 °C, 182 A at 65 °C, and 176 A at 70 °C (–). For a panel that runs warm — say 55 °C ambient — you have 194 A of headroom; above that, the breaker still delivers but you lose 6 A per 5 °C step. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V, with an operating range of -25 °C to 70 °C and storage from -40 °C to 80 °C. Full-load power dissipation is 42 W max.
DIN-rail footprint and auxiliary switch complement
The breaker measures 140 mm wide, 158 mm high, and 70 mm deep — a 4-pole MCCB that fits standard SENTRON panel cutouts and bus-bar layouts. Two factory-fitted auxiliary switches (HP type) are supplied with the basic switch; no additional trip indicator or voltage trigger is included. Communication-function option is absent on this variant.
