The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1220-5MH32-0AJ0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 200 A continuous current with a TM120M thermal-magnetic overcurrent release. It is designed for starter protection in motor branch circuits and general distribution panels. Its interrupting capacity reaches 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V, and 75.6 kA at 440 V, tapering to 30 kA at 500 V and 4.5 kA at 690 V — giving it strong selectivity headroom in low-voltage switchgear, especially at the 415 V common in industrial distribution. The frame carries a rated insulation voltage of 800 V, so it can be applied in 690 V line-to-line systems without downgrading the insulation coordination.
Thermal derating and panel fit
At 40 °C, 45 °C, and 50 °C ambient, the 200 A rating holds flat. Derating begins at 55 °C (194 A), dropping to 176 A at 70 °C. This matters when the breaker is enclosed in a crowded panel with limited airflow — the 70 °C curve applies in a typical NEMA 12 enclosure with multiple devices. Physical footprint: 105 mm wide, 158 mm high, 70 mm deep. That width is standard for a 3-pole MCCB frame at this rating; it fits a standard 200 A panelboard or motor control center bucket without special adapters.
Auxiliary switch configuration and trip indication
Factory-fitted with two auxiliary switches plus one trip alarm switch (HP design). The trip alarm signals a fault condition separate from manual open/close — useful for remote annunciation in a PLC-driven system.
