Interrupting ratings and thermal derating
The 3VA1220-5MH32-0CH0: The 187 kA at 240 V and 121 kA at 415 V mean this breaker can be applied on high-capacity transformers or busway taps where fault current is severe. At 440 V it still clears 30 kA, and at 690 V it holds 17 kA — so it's usable on 480/277 V and 600 V industrial systems, though the lower 690 V rating means you check the available fault current at that voltage. Rated continuous current is 200 A from 40 °C through 50 °C ambient; it derates to 192 A at 55 °C, 188 A at 60 °C, 184 A at 65 °C, and 180 A at 70 °C. If the panel ambient runs above 50 °C, size the breaker for the derated value, not the 200 A nameplate.
Starter protection and auxiliary configuration
This is the starter protection version (product version field), meaning the TM120M release is coordinated for motor starting inrush — it won't nuisance-trip on the locked-rotor current of a typical induction motor. The breaker includes an undervoltage release (UVR) that drops the load on loss of control voltage, and it ships with 2 auxiliary switches plus 1 trip alarm switch HQ, giving you three dry contacts for status feedback to a PLC or annunciator. Latching endurance is rated at 15,000 operations, which is typical for MCCBs in motor branch circuits where switching is infrequent.
Dimensions and panel fit
The breaker measures 105 mm wide, 158 mm high, and 70 mm deep. That 105 mm width is a standard 4-module footprint for SENTRON 3VA MCCBs — it fits the same panel cutout and bus-bar spacing as other 3VA 3-pole frames. Front protection is IP40, so it's suitable for enclosed panel mounting where no water ingress is expected. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C.
