Line protection MCCB with 200 A frame and 220 kA interrupting capacity
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1220-6EF32-0DC0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 200 A continuous current (Iu) and fitted with a TM240 thermal-magnetic release — meaning the thermal element is sized for the 200 A frame and the magnetic trip is fixed at 240 A. This is the line protection version, not a motor-protective or ground-fault variant; it is intended for feeder and distribution circuit protection where the primary concern is cable and busbar protection against overload and short circuit. Breaking capacity is voltage-dependent: 220 kA at 240 V AC, 154 kA at 415 V, 36 kA at 440 V, and 17 kA at 690 V.
Above that, derating is linear: 194 A at 55 °C, 188 A at 60 °C, 182 A at 65 °C, and 176 A at 70 °C. In a sealed or poorly ventilated enclosure where internal ambient reaches 60 °C, the breaker must be loaded to no more than 188 A continuous — a 6 % reduction from nameplate. Account for this in the panel thermal budget. Dimensions are 158 mm height, 105 mm width, 70 mm depth. Suitable for indoor switchboard installation only; not for washdown or outdoor environments without an additional enclosure.
Auxiliary contacts and release configuration
Factory-fitted with 2 auxiliary switches (HQ type — high-rupturing-capacity auxiliary contacts suitable for direct switching of PLC inputs without intermediate relays) and an undervoltage release (UVR). No communication function, no phase failure detection, no voltage trigger, and no ground fault monitoring are built into this variant. If remote monitoring or ground-fault protection is required, it must be added externally via a shunt trip or a separate GFCI module.
