The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1220-6EF42-0AD0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection. It carries a TM240 thermal-magnetic release, rated 200 A continuously at 40 °C, and holds that same 200 A rating through 50 °C before derating to 194 A at 55 °C and 176 A at 70 °C. That thermal curve means this breaker handles full load in a warm panel without nuisance tripping — useful when the enclosure sits near process heat or in a non-climate-controlled electrical room.
Breaking capacity by voltage level
The interrupting ratings are given at five voltage points: 220 kA at 240 V, 154 kA at 415 V, 75.6 kA at 440 V, 30 kA at 500 V, and 17 kA at 690 V. That spread tells you the available fault current the breaker can clear at the point of installation. For a 480 V panel with a 65 kA SCCR, this breaker gives you headroom; at 690 V it still clears 17 kA, which covers most industrial motor-control centers.
Physical fit and integration
The breaker measures 140 mm wide by 158 mm high by 70 mm deep. That 70 mm depth is the dimension that matters most for panel gland-plate clearance — it fits standard 200 A MCCB cubicle depths without a sub-panel extension. The 4-pole width (140 mm) matches the common 4-module footprint for SENTRON 3VA breakers, so a panel laid out for a 3VA1110 frame accepts this one without re-drilling the mounting plate.
Auxiliary and internal configuration
The breaker ships with three auxiliary switches (HQ type) installed. No undervoltage release, no ground-fault monitoring, no communication function, and no voltage trip. The supplied basic switch is order code 3VA12206EF420AA0 — that's the internal switching mechanism. If your application needs shunt trip or UVR, you add those as external accessories; the breaker body itself is a straight thermal-magnetic line-protection device with auxiliary contacts for status feedback.
Rated insulation voltage is 800 V, which covers 480 V and 600 V class systems with margin. Maximum power loss is 42 W — that's the heat to account for in the enclosure thermal calculation. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C.
