What this MCCB carries
The Siemens 3VA1220-6EF42-0AF0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker rated for 200 A continuous current with a TM240 thermal-magnetic overcurrent release. Four poles, line protection version, no undervoltage release, no ground-fault monitoring, no communication module — it's a straight thermal-magnetic MCCB for fixed-trip feeder protection.
Breaking capacity — what the numbers mean
Rated short-circuit breaking capacity hits 220 kA at 240 V, 154 kA at 415 V, 36 kA at 440 V, and 17 kA at 690 V. At 415 V — common for industrial distribution in IEC markets — that 154 kA clears a fault before upstream devices need to coordinate. At 690 V the 17 kA rating still covers most motor branch circuits. The 220 kA at 240 V is typical for high-fault utility tie points in North American panels.
Thermal derating and auxiliary contacts
Rated 200 A from 40 °C through 50 °C ambient, then derates to 194 A at 55 °C, 188 A at 60 °C, 182 A at 65 °C, and 176 A at 70 °C. That derating curve matters if the breaker sits in a crowded enclosure or near heat-generating gear. The auxiliary contact block is 1 NO/NC auxiliary switch plus 1 trip alarm switch (HQ style) — gives remote status on the breaker state and a separate signal for trip events.
Mounting and panel fit
Footprint is 140 mm wide × 158 mm tall × 70 mm deep. Four-pole MCCB this size bolts into a standard panel-mount cutout; no DIN-rail clip on this class. Front IP40 — fine for a dry indoor enclosure, not for washdown zones. Operating range -25 °C to 70 °C, storage from -40 °C to 80 °C.
