Breaking capacity and protection profile
The Siemens 3VA1220-6MH32-0AD0 is a 3-pole IEC frame 250 circuit breaker rated for a breaking capacity class H with Icu=70kA at 415V. That 70kA interrupting rating means it can safely clear a fault current up to that level without upstream fuses or breakers needing to intervene — a key spec for high-fault panels where selectivity and SCCR headroom are the deciding factors. It carries a TM120M thermal-magnetic trip unit, set for starter protection. The In=200A rating is the continuous current; the short-circuit protection pickup Ii is adjustable from 6 to 14 times In (1200 A to 2800 A). Note the description states 'without overload protection' — the TM120M here is configured for magnetic-only short-circuit protection, so the overload function is not active. This is typical for motor starter combination applications where a separate overload relay handles the thermal protection.
Included accessories and wiring note
The breaker ships with a nut keeper kit and three HQ auxiliary switches fitted. The HQ switches provide early-break / late-make contact sequencing for signaling the breaker's open/closed/tripped state to a PLC or safety circuit. When wiring the auxiliaries, verify the contact ratings against your control voltage — the HQ designation follows Siemens' standard auxiliary contact block specification.
