MCCB for high-fault panels
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1225-6EF42-0CA0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker rated at 250 A continuous current, built for line protection in main distribution panels and high-fault industrial switchboards. Its TM240 thermal-magnetic release handles overloads and short-circuits up to 220 kA at 240 V, 154 kA at 415 V, 36 kA at 440 V, and 17 kA at 690 V — meaning it can interrupt fault currents at the main breaker level without upstream coordination issues. The 250 A rating holds flat from 40 °C to 50 °C, then derates to 243.3 A at 55 °C, 236.5 A at 60 °C, 229 A at 65 °C, and 223 A at 70 °C — so in a warm enclosure you lose roughly 11% capacity at the top of the operating range.
Panel fit and integration
Dimensions are 70 mm deep, 140 mm wide, and 158 mm high — a standard 4-pole MCCB footprint that fits most DIN-rail or screw-mounted panel layouts without re-drilling. The front face carries an IP40 protection rating, adequate for enclosed switchboard installation; the breaker is not intended for washdown or outdoor exposure. An undervoltage release (UVR) is built in — designated as 3VA9608-0BB24 — so the breaker trips on loss of control voltage; no auxiliary contact is included on this variant.
