The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1225-6GF42-0KC0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated at 250 A continuous, designed for line protection in distribution panels. Its 220 kA breaking capacity at 240 V handles high-fault utility feeds without cascading upstream — the so-what is that you can place it closer to the transformer without needing a current-limiting fuse ahead of it. At 415 V it still interrupts 154 kA, and at 690 V it holds 17 kA. The 4-pole configuration covers three-phase plus neutral switching, common in North American 277/480 V panels and European 230/400 V TN systems.
Ratings and derating
Full 250 A rating holds up to 50 °C ambient; at 55 °C it derates to 243 A, at 65 °C to 230 A, and at 70 °C to 223 A. Max power loss is 57 W. The insulation voltage is rated 800 V. Operating range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C.
Auxiliaries and integration
This variant ships with a shunt trip (STL) auxiliary release and two HQ auxiliary switches. No undervoltage release, no ground-fault monitoring, no communication function. The basic switch supplied is 3VA12256GF420AA0. Dimensions: 140 mm wide, 158 mm high, 70 mm deep — fits standard 4-pole MCCB panel cutouts. Spring-cage terminals accept 0.2–2.5 mm² solid or ferruled stranded.
