The Siemens 3VA1332-5EF32-0CH0 is a 3-pole IEC frame 400 molded case circuit breaker with a 55 kA interrupting rating at 415 V (breaking capacity class M). It carries a TM240 thermal-magnetic trip unit rated 320 A continuous, with adjustable overload protection (Ir) from 224 A to 320 A and short-circuit pickup (Ii) adjustable from 5 to 10 times In. This is the line-protection version — ATAM (Adjustable Thermal, Adjustable Magnetic) — meaning you set both the long-time and instantaneous thresholds to match the downstream load, typically a feeder or large motor branch.
The 320 A continuous rating (In) with the TM240 trip means the thermal element is sized for 320 A; the adjustable Ir band lets you dial it down to 224 A if the actual load is lighter, which avoids nuisance tripping on inrush while still protecting the cable. The short-circuit pickup range of 5 to 10 x In (1600 to 3200 A) gives you room to ride through motor starting current without tripping the magnetic element. A typical 320 A feeder feeding a 200 kW motor might see 6-8 x FLA during start; setting Ii at 8 or 9 x In keeps the breaker closed through the start and clears a bolted fault.
Built-in accessories and panel integration
The two auxiliary switches give you status feedback (open/closed) for the PLC or panel indication. All of this is factory-fitted inside the 3VA1 frame, so you do not need to open the breaker cover in the field.
