What this 3VA1 MCCB carries
The Siemens 3VA1340-5EF32-0CA0 is a 3-pole IEC frame 400 molded-case circuit breaker with class M breaking capacity — 55 kA at 415 V AC. That rating means it can safely interrupt a fault current of that magnitude on a 400 V class distribution board without upstream devices having to clear it, which simplifies coordination in a main or feeder panel. It ships with a TM240 thermal-magnetic trip unit rated 400 A (In). Overload protection (Ir) is adjustable from 280 A to 400 A, and short-circuit pickup (Ii) is set between 5 and 10 times In. That adjustability lets a panel builder dial in the protection for a specific motor or transformer load without swapping trip units. Factory-fitted is an undervoltage release rated 120–127 V AC, 50/60 Hz. If the control voltage drops, the release trips the breaker open — standard practice for safety circuits or machinery where loss of control power should kill the main feed.
Panel integration notes
Mounts on a standard DIN rail or panel-mount via the 3VA1 frame's integral lugs. The TM240 trip unit and undervoltage release are factory-installed — no field wiring of the release coil beyond the control voltage connection. Verify the release coil's AC supply (120–127 V) matches the panel control transformer tap before landing wires.
