Siemens 3VA1340-5EF32-0DH0 — IEC Frame 400 MCCB with Undervoltage Release
The Siemens 3VA1340-5EF32-0DH0 is a 3-pole IEC frame 400 molded-case circuit breaker from the 3VA1 series, carrying a 55 kA Icu breaking capacity at 415 V AC — class M. That rating means it safely interrupts fault currents up to 55 kA without upstream cascading, sized for high-fault industrial distribution panels where a standard 25 kA breaker would not hold coordination. The TM240 thermal-magnetic trip unit gives it a fixed 400 A continuous current rating (In) with adjustable overload protection (Ir) from 280 A to 400 A, and short-circuit pickup (Ii) adjustable from 5 to 10 times In. On a 400 A feeder, set Ir at 320 A for a 320 A continuous load and Ii at 8x (3200 A) to ride through motor inrush without nuisance trips. It ships with a factory-fitted undervoltage release rated 208-230 V AC 50/60 Hz — this is a shunt-style UVR that trips the breaker when control voltage drops below about 170 V, common in safety circuits for conveyors or pumps where loss of control power must open the main feeder. Also included: two changeover auxiliary switches for remote status indication.
Panel Integration — DIN-Rail Mount, Fill Factor, and Auxiliary Wiring
Mounts on standard DIN rail per IEC 60715. The 3VA1 frame 400 footprint is compact for its 400 A rating — roughly 105 mm wide per pole — so a 3-pole unit occupies about 315 mm of rail width. Leave at least 50 mm clearance above and below for arc-chamber gas venting and cable bending radius. The two auxiliary switches (changeover contacts) are pre-wired to a terminal block on the breaker side; they are rated for 6 A at 230 V AC. The undervoltage release has its own 2-wire connection — verify polarity if the coil is AC, no polarity if it is the DC variant (this one is AC, so polarity irrelevant).
