What this 3VA1 frame breaker carries
The Siemens 3VA1340-6EF32-0AH0 is a 3-pole IEC frame 400 molded case circuit breaker with a breaking capacity class H — meaning it interrupts 70 kA at 415 VAC without damage. That's the high-capacity variant for this frame size, sized for main feeders or large motor branch circuits where fault current runs high. The TM240 thermal-magnetic trip unit gives you adjustable overload protection from 280 A to 400 A (Ir), and short-circuit pickup (Ii) adjustable from 5 to 10 times In. That range covers motor starting inrush and transformer magnetizing current without nuisance tripping. Factory-fitted: two changeover auxiliary switches (H) and one trip-alarm switch. That's three discrete signal contacts for status feedback to a PLC or annunciator panel — no separate accessory kit to order.
Panel integration notes
Mounts on a standard DIN rail or directly to a backplate via the frame's integral mounting points. The 3VA1 family uses a common footprint across frame 400 breakers, so if you're replacing an older 3VA1 unit, the bus-bar and lug kit positions are identical. The TM240 trip unit is field-adjustable without removing the breaker cover — Ir dial and Ii rotary switch are accessible from the front. No need to pull the breaker out of the panel for setting changes.
