630 A continuous is the full-load current the main contacts carry without derating. For a motor load, that covers a 315 kW to 400 kW induction motor at 400 V three-phase (depending on efficiency and power factor). For a resistive or distribution bus, it handles the full 630 A feeder. Because there is no overcurrent release, upstream protection — a fuse or MCCB — must coordinate with this switch's making and breaking capacity. The shunt trip allows a PLC, safety relay, or remote pushbutton to open the switch independently of handle position, which is useful for emergency-off or interlocked disconnects.
