3VA1510-5EF32-0HC0 — Siemens SENTRON 1000 A MCCB
The Siemens 3VA1510-5EF32-0HC0 is a 3-pole SENTRON molded case circuit breaker rated at 1000 A continuous current, with a 187 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V AC. The interrupting capacity scales with system voltage: 121 kA at 415/440 V, 75.6 kA at 500 V, 52.5 kA at 690 V. That gives you selectivity headroom for most 400 V distribution panels — the breaker clears faults well above the typical 50-65 kA SCCR at the main lug. For a 690 V industrial feed, the 52.5 kA rating still covers high-fault installations like mining or marine switchgear.
Current Derating Over Temperature
The 1000 A rating holds up to 50 °C ambient. Above that, derate linearly: 960 A at 55 °C, 940 A at 60 °C, 920 A at 65 °C, 900 A at 70 °C. The 330 W maximum power loss also needs ventilation; don't bury this in a sealed gland box without thermal calculation.
Panel Fit & Mounting
Dimensions: 210 mm wide × 320 mm high × 120 mm deep. That's an 8.27 × 12.6 × 4.72 inch footprint — standard for a 1000 A frame MCCB. Mounts on a backplate or DIN-rail adapter plate; the 3-pole block needs a cutout roughly 210 mm wide. The shunt trip and two auxiliary switches are factory-installed, so no field wiring of add-on modules — just power and control connections.
Selectivity & Coordination Notes
For a 1000 A main breaker feeding downstream 160-630 A feeders, the 187 kA at 240 V (or 121 kA at 400 V) interrupting capacity gives full selectivity with most 3VA1 and 3VA2 breakers — the upstream breaker stays closed for faults below its instantaneous pickup. The line-protection design (no ground-fault module) means it's a straight thermal-magnetic or electronic trip; coordinate trip curves with downstream devices per IEC 60947-2.
