What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3VA1580-5EF32-0AC0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection in distribution panels. It carries a continuous current rating of 800 A at ambient temperatures up to 50 °C, derating to 722 A at 70 °C — so in a warm enclosure you lose about 10% of the headroom. The TM240 thermal-magnetic release handles overload and short-circuit protection without external trip units. Breaking capacity is 187 kA at 240 V AC, 121 kA at 415/440 V, and 52.5 kA at 690 V — that's a high-interrupting rating for a 3-pole frame, meaning it can clear severe faults without upstream fuses in most low-voltage industrial feeds.
Panel fit and integration
The breaker measures 320 mm high, 210 mm wide, and 120 mm deep — a standard SENTRON 3VA frame size. It mounts on a DIN rail or directly to a backplate; the 3-pole block leaves room for auxiliary switches (2 HQ contacts included) and shunt trips if needed. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V, so it's comfortable on 690 V systems with margin. Power loss at full load is 240 W maximum — account for that heat in the enclosure sizing, especially if you're stacking multiple breakers in a sealed cabinet.
