What it is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2010-5HN32-0AA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 100 A continuous current at 40 °C ambient, using an ETU350 electronic trip unit for line protection. It's designed for main or feeder protection in distribution panels where you need adjustable overload and short-circuit settings without swapping thermal elements. The interrupting capacity is 187 kA at 240 V AC, 121 kA at 415/440 V, 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 3 kA at 690 V — so it handles high fault currents on the low-voltage side of a transformer but derates significantly at higher voltages. That 3 kA at 690 V means it's not your go-to for 690 V motor circuits unless the available fault current is very low. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V, and the breaker carries an IP40 rating on the front — protected against tools and small wires, but not against water ingress. Mount it inside a panel, not outdoors.
Physical fit and integration
Dimensions are 181 mm high, 105 mm wide, 86 mm deep — a standard 3-pole MCCB footprint for panel mounting. The 105 mm width matches the typical 4-module DIN-rail or bolt-on base; check your panel's cutout or busbar spacing before committing. Power loss at rated current is 13.5 W maximum — negligible for thermal management in a ventilated enclosure, but worth noting if you're packing multiple breakers in a sealed box.
Environmental limits
Operating temperature range is -25 °C to +70 °C; storage from -40 °C to +80 °C. The 100 A rating holds flat across the full 40–70 °C ambient range — no derating needed up to 70 °C, which is unusual for an MCCB and simplifies panel design in hot environments.
